Barbra's Current Musical Conductor
Bill Ross is alive and well and recently worked with Barbra
Streisand, conducting the orchestra for her North American and
European tours. His most recent engagement with Barbra was at
her 2007 performance at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Ross
worked with Barbra during the New York and Los Angeles legs of
"Timeless" in 2000. He is an Emmy award winning composer and
arranger and has dozens of Hollywood credits that date back to
1983.
Movie
fans will be interested to know that Ross has been involved in
composing or arranging the music for over 100 films such as
"Matrix Reloaded," "Die Hard 2," "The Bodyguard," "Lethal Weapon
3," "Death Becomes Her," "Forest Gump," "Harry Potter and the
Chamber of Secrets," and most recently, "Poseidon." In 1988,
Ross conducted the music for "Ernest Saves Christmas," a film
executive produced by Barbra's manager.
Bill Ross has
worked with a who's who of the music world: Celine Dion, Josh
Groban, Whitney Houston, Kenny G., Jennifer Lopez, and Quincy
Jones, among others. His arrangement was featured in Celine
Dion's smash hit, "My Heart Will Go On" from the film "Titanic."
Bill Ross's return to Barbra's concert stage was a musical
reunion of two friends who already have a previous track record
of making beautiful music together. Ross wrote the arrangement
for Barbra's performance of "You'll Never Walk Alone" on the
2001 Emmy telecast, a performance that many consider to be
Streisand's finest.
