Color Me Barbra: An Art Appreciation
|

Here is your
opportunity to experience the treasures of The Philadelphia Museum
of Art and enjoy the very same works of art that were seen in Barbra
Streisand's television special, "Color Me Barbra."
This is the complete fan's guide to the art of "Color Me Barbra,"
which I researched as a compendium to an art appreciation tour of
the museum in 1997. The guide will take you through the museum,
specifically highlighting and identifying the location of those
works of art which featured prominently in the show. There is a
brief history of each artist and his work.
With a few exceptions, the art seen in "Color Me Barbra" is still on
display. A trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a
wonderful cultural journey, and a great fan experience. So, until
you get there in person, enjoy our virtual "Color Me Barbra" tour of
the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Color Me Who?
The staff of the Philadelphia
Museum of Art was very helpful in providing information about
some of the artists who created the masterpieces featured in
Color Me Barbra, and also in mapping out their
locations within the museum. But amazingly, the connection
between Barbra and the museum was lost on the present day
employees. Not one person I spoke with knew that Barbra had
taped a television special right in their own museum. As a
follow-up to our visit, I sent one of the curators a tape of
Color Me Barbra. With the museum's newfound revelation,
maybe we can expect a special Color Me Barbra
exhibition sometime soon. |
