December 2007

Grammy Honors for Streisand Single
Dec 28 - The National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences announced last week that Barbra Streisand's 1973 single, "The Way We Were" has been inducted into their Grammy Hall of Fame. This marks the fourth time a Streisand recording has been so honored. Previous Streisand Grammy Hall of Fame inductions included "People" (the single, in 1998), "Funny Girl" (the cast recording, in 2004), and "The Barbra Streisand Album" (in 2006).

"The Way We Were" won both an Oscar and a Grammy for its composers, Marvin Hamlisch and Alan & Marilyn Bergman. Billboard chose "The Way We Were" as the Top Pop Single of 1974.  "The Way We Were" was the first Streisand single to chart at #1.
