Barbra, Live: The Mirror Has Two Faces Premiere
|
Our On-the
Scene Reports

It was only
appropriate for Barbra to hold the world premiere of her film, "The
Mirror Has Two Faces" in New York. After all, she shot the film in the
city, and her romantic depiction of New York became a character all
its own. Having watched Barbra direct this film in Central Park and on
the East and West sides of Manhattan, the invitation I received from
Columbia-TriStar to attend the premiere was an unexpected pleasure.
Here's my recollection of that magical night, and my first big-time
movie premier.
At the
Ziegfeld Theatre
(Nov
10, 1996) - Fans were screamng and flashbulbs were popping when Barbra
showed up with James Brolin at the world premiere of "The Mirror Has Two
Faces" at the Ziegfeld Theatre on West 54 Street in New York. Barbra and
Tristar Pictures were very generous in making premiere screening tickets
and invitations to the post-premiere party available to fans. For
me, it seemed only a fitting finale to have been invited to the
festivities. After having had the privilege of personally watching
Barbra work on this film for several months, the invitation to the
premiere and the chance to party with cast and crew was the icing on the
cake.
At Tavern
on the Green
Following the screening, we headed by cab over to the fabulous
after-party, held, appropriately, at Tavern on the Green, one of the
many Central Park locations used in the film. Barbra showed up, too,
about halfway through the evening and was the Toast of the Tavern.
The food was great. The buffet table was called "The Perfect
Bite." Mountains of pink snowballs formed the centerpiece of the
marvelous desert spread.
It was a perfect evening all around. The screening was a treat.
Partying with the guest of honor was a thrill. The generosity of
the film's director and studio resulted in a most memorable
evening. |
