She'll Make History in Return to Atlantic
City
June 19, 2006
Ticketmaster
revealed
today
the
addition
of a
new
stopover
on
Streisand's
tour. Barbra will
have
the
distinction
of
performing
in a
National
Historic
Landmark
when
she
takes
the
stage
at the renowned Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey
on
November
4.
Boardwalk
Hall
has
played
host
not
only
to The Miss America Pageant,
but
also a
multitude
of
entertainment
legends
such
as
Frank
Sinatra,
The
Beatles,
and
more
recently,
The
Rolling
Stones,
Bruce
Springsteen
and
Bette
Midler.
In
1964,
Boardwalk
Hall
was
the
site
of the
National
Democratic
Convention
where
Lyndon
B.
Johnson
was
nominated
for
his
first
full
term
as
president.
Barbra
was a
performer
that
evening.
The announcement of an added performance in Atlantic City will
no
doubt be cheered by Barbra's fans in the South Jersey and Philadelphia areas, providing them with an additional local option to see Barbra in concert.
This
will
mark a
return
to
Atlantic
City
for
Barbra,
who
was a
headliner
during
the
1964
Democratic
convention
which
nominated
President
Lyndon
Johnson
to his
first
full
term
as
president
following
the
assassination
of JFK
one
year
earlier.
Barbra was
also honored in Atlantic City in 1996.
Coinciding with the release of The Mirror Has Two Faces, Barbra was given the ShowEast Filmmaker of the Year award, an honor bestowed by movie theatre owners. Barbra did not attend in person, but her video taped acceptance speech was shown during award ceremonies at the Trump Taj-Mahal.
American Express presale for the Atlantic City performance begins at 9 AM on June 20, with general public sales commencing at 10 AM on June 26. |
