Roz Kind Joins Alzheimer's
Crusade
June 12, 2011
Like
her sister, singer Roslyn Kind
is speaking out on Alzheimer's
disease and has become an
advocate for patient's therapy
and compassionate care. Roz
recently visited a clinic in
Ohio and took the time to
entertain patients. Her
appearance was covered
by the local NBC affiliate
(right).
Watch
the
report
here.
Researchers
generally
agree
that
music
engages
an
Alzheimer's
patient's
memory
in a
very
positive
way.
Roz
knows
that
first
hand.
Both
she
and
Barbra
lost
their
mother
to
Alzheimer's,
and as
Roz
explained
during
the
interview,
music
was
one
of
the
happy
things
in
life
that
their
mother
remembered.
Hey
Roz,
not
only
are
you
a
phenomenal
performer,
but
you're
a
great
humanitarian.
We
commend
you
for
your
acts
of
compassion
and
generosity
in
helping
Alzheimer's
patients
enjoy
some
of
life's
more
pleasant
memories,
if
only
for
a
moment. |

Barbra Writes for Shriver Report
August 24,
2010
A study
on Alzheimer's will be released October 19 by California First Lady
Maria Shriver. The report explores the impact of the disease on both
patient and caregiver. Maria's father, Sargent Shriver was diagnosed
with the disease in 2003.
According to
ABC
News, Barbra
Streisand will be one of Shiver's contributing essayists. Alzheimer's
has touched Barbra's own family. In 1996, Barbra disclosed to Katie
Couric that her mother was dealing with the onset of the disease. |
