The New York Previews

June 6, 2004

Julien Entertainment, the same company which managed Barbra's first wave of EBay auctions sponsored the "Her Name Is Barbra" auction.

Among the items up for bids were the famously provocative costume Barbra wore in "The Owl and the Pussycat" along with her sailor themed gown from her TV special, "My Name Is Barbra."

Prior to the sale, selections from the collection were available for public previews in New York, London and LA. The auction was a true world-wide event with online bidders participating in tandem with live bidders on the auction floor.

The Most Popular

"My Name Is Barbra" Sailor Outfit: $12,750

Barbra wore this signature sailor-themed costume during the opening sequences of her first TV special, My Name Is Barbra in 1965. It is a dazzling gown in vibrant red, white and blue. The Streisand auction gave us a rare opportunity to see this magnificent outfit in color for the very first time. Sadly, the gown is showing signs of age, but we know the collector who won the auction. He vows to its proper preservation.

The Most Expensive

"The Judy Garland Show" Midi Blouse: $28,800

Items from Barbra's appearance on The Judy Garland Show were the most expensive. This sailor top, which Barbra designed and wore during the 1963 show sold for $28,800. The costume was incomplete (it was missing the neck wrap), but it did not deter the most fierce bidding of the auction. After all, Barbra wore it for the most famous duet in television history. If she ever locates the missing piece, Barbra promises to send it to the new owner
