In
her
brief
ten minute
interview on NPR, Barbra had
a lot of fun things to say,
including her memories of
working with Joan Rivers in
"Driftwood."
And
Barbra
dropped
some
big
news,
too.
She'll
begin
begin
recording
once
again
in
January.

Barbra Discusses a New
Album ... and Joan
Rivers?
December 11, 2010
Barbra
gave a surprise interview
this morning on NPR to
promote her new book, "My
Passion for Design" and
her new movie, "Little
Fockers." She called in
from her home and spoke with host Scott
Simon on
the air for ten minutes.
In the brief time she was
on, Barbra had a lot of
interesting (and fun)
things to say. She wants
to see more of the country
(another tour, perhaps?)
and will begin recording
once again come January.
On working with Dustin
Hoffman:
"He actually was the first
person at the school that
got a job in an
off-Broadway show..."
On working with Joan
Rivers:
"Driftwood? Oh my god. I
think I was 17 years old
and it was in somebody's
loft in an apartment
building. I have no idea
exactly where it was., but
I know that Joan Molinsky
was in it. And Joan
Molinsky turned out to be
Joan Rivers. Isn't that
funny? And I told her that
at a Christmas party last
year, I said 'Joan, do you
remember me? I was Lana in
Driftwood.' ..."
On her favorite singers:
"I loved listening to
Shirley Horn. And I loved
Frank Sinatra. I didn't
appreciate him early on.
It took me a while to say,
'Wow. This man is
amazing.' ..."
On her favorite songs to
sing:
"I like singing the song I
wrote, Evergreen. I like
singing The Way We Were. I
like singing that song
called Unusual Way. I
think it's a beautiful
song, not that well known,
probably. And What Are You
Doing the Rest of Your
Life ..."
