Adult Film Star, Featured
in "The Owl and the Pussycat"
April 14, 2009
When
she was cast as Robert Klein's girlfriend in the 1970 comedy "The Owl and the
Pussycat," Marilyn Chambers was enjoying a career as a successful model. Her greatest
achievement up until that point in time was as
the "Ivory Snow" girl, appearing on the product and in ads that
proclaimed a purity of "99 44/100%." The irony, of course, is that
Chambers would go on to become one of the most
famous adult (read porn)
stars in history. In fact, her first film was in a Barbra Streisand comedy that nearly
garnered an x-rating itself.
After her brief stint in "Owl," where she actually shared one
quick
scene with Barbra Streisand, Chambers discovered her true calling. In
1972, she was cast in a successful x-rated film called "Behind the
Green Door." And even during Barbra's interview at The Actors Studio
in 2003, Chamber's provocative career did not go unmentioned. Barbra
laughed and spoke humorously about Chambers and her successful career
as a porn star following "The Owl and the Pussycat."
Chambers remained active in adult pictures right until the very end.
Her last film (still in post production) is an animated feature where
she provides the voice for the lead character. What's the title, you
ask?
Why it's called "Porndogs: The Adventures of Sadie," of course.
