Original "Normal Heart" cast member Joel Grey directed. Others in the new cast included Joe Mantello, Victor Garber, Patrick Wilson and Jack McBrayer. The performance was a benefit for The Actors Fund.

In 1993, Barbra participated with Kramer (and cast members
Tony Roberts, Stockard Channing, Harry Hamlin, Eric Bogosian & Kevin Bacon) in another reading of his play at Broadway's Roundabout Theatre (photo, right).

For years, Barbra collaborated with Kramer on plans to bring "The Normal Heart" to the screen. It was a film that Barbra so desperately wanted to make. Sadly, undisclosed differences ended their partnership and Barbra's vision to direct the film was never realized.

Recently, it was announced that "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy was chosen to direct the picture.
