Girl Talk with Diane and Barbra

News/September 2005

One of Barbra's few promotional appearances for "Guilty Pleasures" was a one-hour stint on ABC's "Primetime." With pal Diane Sawyer guiding the discussion, Barbra gave one of her more insightful interviews.

Entertaining the Masses

September 30, 2005
Diane Sawyer of ABC's Primetime Live snagged what will probably be one of Barbra Streisand's few personal appearance to publicize her new album, Guilty Pleasures. While the interview focused primarily on Barbra's music, Sawyer did manage to direct the interview toward other areas. Barbra, being Barbra, didn't expand on answers to personal questions, but two moments did stand out.

Barbra was visibly moved while watching a clip (which she had apparently never seen) of her mother, Diana Kind during a 1983 appearance on Good Morning America.  And it was Barbra's discussion about working with Judy Garland that provided a poignant, though sad revelation about Judy from their 1963 appearance together.

Barbra seemed at ease during the interview with Sawyer. And from a viewer's point of view, it was nice to see Barbra take a chance on an interviewer with whom she hasn't had much past experience. The new dynamic was refreshing.
