Take Me Out to the Ball
Game
October 13, 2008
Here's
how it looked on TV. Folks around the country who were tuned to
the Dodgers-Phillies playoffs (as we were) got a brief glimpse
of Barbra and James in the stands at around 6:30 PM (PDT).
Images of the Brolins were aired coast to coast during the Fox
Sports broadcast just as the bottom of the 4th was about to get
underway. Barbra and James were seated with the owner, Frank McCourt and his wife (both at Barbra's left) in McCourt's field
box seats behind the Dodger dugout.
Also sharing the box were Dodger über-fans Penny Marshall and
brother Garry. That's Garry
in the first row (in the white cap).
The vacant seat
belongs to Penny, who, we presume, made a quick run to the
concession stand. And that looks like Dodger great Tommy
Lasorda, sitting next to McCourt and listening in.
Of course, the Los Angeles Dodgers were originally known as the
Brooklyn Dodgers. We don't know if Barbra ever attended a
Dodger game at Brooklyn's Ebbets Field, but if she did, it would
have been a short walk from her home.
The Dodgers abandoned Brooklyn in 1957. Barbra followed suit
shortly thereafter. |
