Whadda Ya Kidding?
August 1, 2006
Barbra Streisand has decided to return to the concert stage, and
that is great news, not only for Streisand fans, but for music lovers
all over the world. A talent like Streisand's comes around once in a
lifetime, if that often, so when she announced the end of her live
singing career back in 2000, it was a sad revelation. But times have
changed, and for various reasons (be they charitable or otherwise),
Barbra has decided that the end had indeed not yet come.
She's back in concert this October and November, and I for one am
delighted that she changed her mind about retiring her microphone.
Like a rare gem, a talent like Streisand's can never become old. I
also know that many younger people (and some not so young) have never
had the opportunity to experience Streisand singing live in a formal
concert setting. So to you lucky fans, old and new alike, the
experience you are about to embark upon will change the way you view
music forever.
And to those in the media (and others) who have been endlessly
kvetching about Barbra's extraordinary change of heart, the cost
of tickets, choice of opening act, etc., etc., you have become
tiresome. Remember, you have a choice not to attend.
