Walk

May 1, 2010
Hollywood
has nothing on Brooklyn if you want to see Barbra Streisand's name
permanently etched in cement. Just head out to the Brooklyn
Botanic Gardens in Prospect Park. Here, you'll find a unique tribute
to our hometown girl in an area of the grounds called Celebrity
Path.
Brooklyn's Celebrity Path is the place where local Brooklynites are
officially honored by the New York City outer borough. Each June,
concurrent with "Welcome Back to Brooklyn Day," new inductees are
announced. The requirement is simple: you have to be a person of note,
and you had to be born in Brooklyn.
There are 159 names etched on Celebrity Path, Barbra, of course being
one of the more popular. Barbra shares her honor with many other
Brooklyn locals who have gone on to lead lives of distinction. Among
others on Celebrity Path who have had an association with Barbra's
career are:
Lauren Bacall ,
co-starred with Barbra in "The Mirror Has Two Faces"
Dom DeLuise, co-starred with Barbra in "Another Evening with
Harry Stoones"
Neil Diamond, performed "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" in duet
with Barbra
Richard Dreyfuss, co-starred with Barbra in "Nuts"
Elliott Gould, future husband who co-starred with Barbra in
"I Can Get It For You Wholesale"
Lainie Kazan, Barbra's understudy in "Funny Girl"
Alan King, producer of Barbra's 1966 concert tour
Joan Rivers, co-starred with Barbra in "Driftwood"
Brenda Vaccaro, co-starred with Barbra in "The Mirror Has Two
Faces"
Ben Vereen, co-starred with Barbra in "Funny Lady"
Eli Wallach, co-starred with Barbra in "Nuts"
