People We Remember

Actor

You might not recognize his name, but Jack Manning, together with Barbra Streisand, provided one of the biggest sustained laughs in "The Owl and the Pussycat."

Mr. Weyderhouse in "The Owl and the Pussycat"

August 31, 2009
Jack Manning, one of Barbra Streisand's lesser known co-stars, passed away at his home in Southern California. He was 93.

Manning appeared in one key scene in "The Owl and the Pussycat." He portrayed Mr. Weyderhaus, Felix Sherman's future father-in law (and one of Doris' former clients).  Together, Manning and Barbra provided the film's biggest sustained laugh when we learned that Mr. Weyderhaus was in reality "Bombs Away...the guy with the smock... you know, with the hard boiled eggs."

It's nearly 40 years later and we're still laughing at that one. Thanks, Jack.
