As our
friends were enjoying a live concert appearance by Barbra
Streisand in Paris last night, those of us left behind in the US
had to settle for a less spectacular consolation prize: the
airing of Barbra's cameo appearance on "Miami Vice" from 1988.
Back
in
1988,
Barbra
and
"Miami
Vice"
star
Don
Johnson
were a
sizzling
item
in
Hollywood.
Johnson
even
recorded
a duet
with
Barbra
on her
album
"Till
I
Loved
You."
The
question
of how
to get
Streisand
to
reciprocate
by
appearing
on
Johnson's
blockbuster
crime
drama
was
easily
answered.
She
would
do a
short
walk-on
during
an
episode
entitled
"Badge
of
Dishonor."
The
vintage episode
was
broadcast
last
night
on the
cable
channel,
Sleuth.
The
all
too
brief
scene
takes
place
on an
overcast
day at
Miami's
bay
front.
As
Crockett
and
Tubbs
(Johnson
and
Philip
Michael
Thomas)
drive
along
the
shore,
they
notice
a
mysterious
woman
casually
strolling
next
to the
water.
Their
sports
car
stops
at the
dock.
The
woman
continues
to
walk
by,
but
not
before
Crockett
takes
a
moment
for an
inquisitive
glance
at the
seductive
stranger.
Barbra's
non-speaking
appearance
in the
episode
was
unbilled,
and
was
presumably
unpaid
(or
did
she
receive
scale?)
for
her
efforts.
