Played the Heavy in "Nuts"

The world will remember Leslie Nielsen for the hundreds of television episodes and dozens of films he appeared in. Our favorite was the comedy "Airplane!".

Many of us will will certainly remember Nielsen's portrayal of Allen Green, the man (read: john) who was killed by Claudia Draper in self defense in the film, "Nuts." Nielsen's role was crucial as it set the premise for the story of Claudia's courtroom battle.

Leslie Nielsen was among the most impressive group of veteran actors ever to appear together in a Streisand film. James Whitmore, Maureen Stapleton, Karl Malden, Eli Wallach and of course Richard Dreyfus rounded out the stellar cast.

Nielsen was also in another noteworthy film and a favorite of many, the 1956 cult classic "Forbidden Planet." Nielsen played the lead opposite two other future Streisand film costars: Anne Francis and Walter Pidgeon.
