Queens |

Queens is the New York borough adjacent
to Brooklyn, so it was no wonder that Barbra has spent a bit of
time there, both as a performer and as a sports spectator. |

Forest Hills Tennis Center
1 Tennis Place, Forest Hills, Queens
Barbra was a headliner at the Forest Hills Music Festival in Queens on
two separate occasions. Her first booking was on Sunday, July 12, 1964
and occurred during her run in "Funny Girl" on Broadway.
Ticket
prices ranged from $1.95 to a staggering $5.95 a seat. The location
was at the world famous
Forest Hills Tennis Club, an outdoor venue
that accommodated about 12,000 people.
Barbra returned for a second performance in Forest Hills on Sunday,
August 8, 1965.

Louis Armstrong Stadium - Flushing, Queens
Barbra made two
appearances at another tennis stadium, but this time she was there ...
to watch tennis. At the 1992
U.S. Open
tennis championship in Flushing Meadows, Queens, Barbra showed up to
support her friend, tennis ace Andre Agassi. We saw her there (at the
Louis Armstrong Stadium) on September 9 as she took in the match from
court-side seats with pal Donna Karen.
Earlier in the same tournament (on September 5), Barbra was spotted by television viewers during a
live interview on the USA network's broadcast. During this particular on-air conversation,
as Barbra watched Agassi ply his craft on center court, she referred to
him as a
Zen Master.
