Honoring Barbra's Early Engagements

May 22, 2006
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas is currently displaying several plaques throughout its main floor, each to commemorate 50 years of their headline entertainment.

Barbra Streisand's 1963 engagement is prominently noted, along with a photo from her appearance. Barbra's very first Las Vegas appearance was as Liberace's opening act in 1963 at the Riviera, smack-dab in what used to be the heart of the Vegas Strip. Barbra appeared at The Riviera again in 1970, but this time she was the biggest headliner in town.

If you're in Vegas, be sure to drop by The Riviera and have a look at this unique homage to Barbra and the over 300 other headliners who have performed in their showroom. And while you're there, don't miss the Riviera's special tribute performance of Barbra and Frank: The Concert That Never Was, performing most nights.
