We don't know if he asked

has Barbra on his iPod, too. |

Brolins Attend State Dinner
January 19,
2011
Barbra and James Brolin
were in Washington today to
attend their first White
House state dinner since
Obama took office. The
occasion was to honor the
President of China, Hu
Jintao.
At the state dinner
arrival ceremony, Barbra
stopped by the press line
to answer a few
questions. She mentioned
that the last time she was
at a White House state
dinner "was during the
Clinton administration."
When asked why she was
invited, Barbra joked, "I
worked in a Chinese
restaurant." She then
mentioned that she "has
lots of friends here." Watch the video of
the Brolins arriving at the
state dinner
here
(Barbra at 1:05).
While in Washington,
Barbra posted the
following message on
twitter: "Attending the
State Dinner for President
Hu of China was such a
privilege. The leaders of
the two most powerful
countries."
According to Susanna
of Beverly Hills, they
designed the pin striped
ensemble Barbra wore for
the occasion. It's
described as a "black and
white pinstriped,
single-breasted, fitted
jacket worn with a
matching deep V-neck
fitted vest topped with
jewel buttons and a long
slim evening skirt with a
deep plunging front slit."
The outfit looked similar to the
one Barbra wore when she
performed for President
Clinton at his inaugural
gala.
Coincidence? Perhaps. It was exactly 18 years
ago (to the day) when she
gave that legendary
performance.
Earlier in the day, Barbra
attended a State
Department luncheon hosted
by Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton. Barbra
had some one-on-one time
with the Chinese leader
and even clinked glasses
with him after he offered
a toast.
The event was captured by
C-SPAN's day-long coverage
of the state visit. You
can
watch
it here. |
