"The Movie Album" Gets Nominated
December 4, 2003
Barbra Streisand's "The Movie
Album" received a Grammy Award nomination in the category of
Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. With Tony Bennett (who won
over Barbra's "Christmas Memories" last year) and Rod Stewart in
the mix, Barbra's competition for the coveted prize is
formidable. The biggest challenge to Barbra will be Bette
Midler's wonderfully nostalgic album, "Bette Midler Sings The
Rosemary Clooney Songbook."
Let the battle of the veterans begin.
As a related aside, be sure to check out Barbra's
National Public Radio
interview from October 13, 2003. The twelve minute interview
discusses "The Movie Album"
and is highlighted by Barbra's short impromptu rendition of
"Hush-a-bye" (at 5:14)
