As
with
most
children,
Barbra's
childhood
escape
was at
the
movies.
Her
local
movie
theatre
was
the
Loews
Kings
on
Flatbush
Avenue.
It was
there
that
she
would
watch
the
likes
of
Marlon
Brando,
while
dreaming
of
being
on the
screen
herself.
Barbra
never
wanted
to be
the
actress.
"Not
Vivien
Leigh,
but
Scarlet
O'Hara,"
she
was
quoted
as
saying.
Sadly,
today
Loews
Kings
is a
skeleton
of its
former
self,
no
longer
functioning
as a
theatre;
a sad
victim
of
urban
decay.
